More covid cases worldwide in 4 weeks than its first six months
More coronavirus cases have been reported worldwide in the past four weeks than in the first six months of the pandemic, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus disclosed in a news briefing on Friday. Hospitals and intensive care units were filling up or full across Europe and the United States, as the confirmed infection figure climbs to 57 million with 1.3 million dead.
Also revealed was that the number of coronavirus cases in Europe has overtaken the United States as infection surges with the onset of winter. Europe has so far recorded more than 15 million cases, while the United States is on the brink of 12 million.
