More than 2,000 confirmed dead in NE Afghan landslide
At least 2,001 people were confirmed dead Saturday in the landslide that buried villages in northeastern Afghanistan’s Badakhshan province on the Tajikistan border this week. Some of the dead were rescuers as they dug through the rubble for survivors. The UN has appealed for urgent international aid for the more than 4,000 people made homeless by the disaster.
