More than 55 killed in terrorist attacks in Iraq
The heaviest toll was caused Saturday by a suicide bomber who detonated an explosive vest in the middle of a Shiite Ashura gathering at a market in Baghdad’s northern al-Shaab district, killing at least 41 people and wounding 33. Islamic State claimed the attack. Also struck were a police checkpoint and the family of Numan al-Mujamaei, leader of the Sunni paramilitary Ishaq Mobilization militia, which is fighting ISIS.
