Morsi to stand trial for espionage in aid of terrorists
The deposed Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi will be charged with espionage for allegedly aiding a terrorism campaign by the Palestinian Hamas and Lebanese Hizballah, Cairo state media report. He is already accused of a hand in killing opposition protesters. Thirty-five other Muslim Brotherhood defendants to be tried with him are also accused of mounting a surge in attacks on soldiers and police after Morsi’s overthrow, mostly in the Sinai Peninsula.
