Mortar fire from East Lebanon against Metullah
Five hours after the 34-rocket barrage from Lebanon raked across western and central Galilee Thursday afternoon, three mortar shells launched from southeast Lebanon exploded harmlessly on open ground outside the Galilee Panhandle town of Metullah. The town opened public bomb shelters, like the more than a dozen locations targeted earlier by tens of rockets.
The IDF spokesman held Hamas responsible for the rocket offensive. Unlike previous provocations, Hizballah denied playing any role in the event, having previously ensured deniability by recruiting Palestinians from terrorist groups, chiefly Hamas, to carry out the broad multi-front offensive against Israel orchestrated in the shadows from Tehran.
