Mortar shell strikes open area on Gaza border

A red alert siren went off on Thursday afternoon in Israeli communities near the border with Gaza. Shortly afterwards, a mortar shell from Gaza was found to have struck an open area without causing any injuries or damage. IDF artillery opened fire on Hamas targets in northern and central Gaza in response to the attack.
