Moscow confirms downing of Russian helicopter in Syria
The Russian Defense Ministry stated Monday that it is investigating the fate of “three crew members and two reconciliation center officers who were aboard a Russian military transport Mi-8 helicopter shot down from the ground en route to the Hmeimim airbase, after delivering humanitarian aid to the city of Aleppo.”
After confirming the claim of Syrian rebels to have downed the helicopter, the defense ministry in Moscow underscored that the fate of the Russian servicemen is being investigated through all available channels. According to one rebel report, one of the officers was taken hostage.
On July 8, Daesh shot down a Syrian Mi-25 helicopter piloted by two Russian officers.
