Moscow denies seven Russian warplanes destroyed in Syria

The Russian Defense Ministry issued a statement Thursday which called the reports of seven jets being destroyed at Khmeimim air base in Syria “fake news.” The statement said that two Russian military personnel had been killed in a mortar attack on the base which was confirmed to have taken place on Dec. 31.
