Moscow may have had advance knowledge of chemical weapon attack: Trump

During a joint press conference at the White House with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Wednesday, US President Donald Trump said that the US and the alliance should make joint efforts to end the slaughter in Syria, calling Syrian President Bashar Assad a "butcher". In response to a question, he said it was "certainly possible" that Russia knew of Syria's plan to carry out a chemical attack last week, but added that it was "probably unlikely". Regarding the US Tomahawk missile attack on a Syrian airbase in retaliation for the April 4 attack, he said "I have absolutely no doubt we did the right thing." Trump added that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson was making "important efforts" during his visit to Moscow to discuss Syria and other key issues.
