Moscow tells NKorea to stop its provocative actions
In a strong condemnation of Pyongyang, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov on Monday urged North Korea to “stop provocative actions that destabilize the situation,” hours before the second UN Security Council emergency meeting on Pyongyang’s latest, most powerful nuclear test.
He said Moscow sees “a dangerous trend in how quickly North Korea is making progress” in its nuclear program. But, still, the Russian diplomat stressed, diplomacy is the only viable solution to the Korean crisis. Without mentioning the US, Ryabkov said: “The one who is stronger and smarter should show restraint.”
China warned North Korea against proceeding with its reported plans to launch another ballistic missile, saying it should not worsen tensions.
