Most Americans oppose US involvement in Syria – unless chemical weapons at risk
A new Washington pos-ABC News poll found that nearly three-quarters of the public says the U.S. military “should not get involved” in Syria; just 17 percent support such a mission. But 62 percent support intervention if limited to creating a no-fly zone with US aircraft. Support for general US military involvement rises to 63 percent if Syria’s government uses chemical weapons on its own people. And should the Syrian government lose control of is chemical weapons stock — known to be among the world’s largest – 70 percent would support US military action.
