Last Vegas police: One gunman down, at least 2 dead, 24 injured

Last Vegas police report one suspected gunman is down following shooting attacks near or inside Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino at a country music concert and other parts of the city.  Police shut down the entire Las Vegas Strip while investigating the shooting. The number of injured, 2 dead, 24 injured – 12 critically – is expected to rise as the incident unfolds. Several SWAT teams were sent to the hotel, and officers reported being pinned down by gunfire. The police also descended on the Ali Baba Restaurant, about a 10-minute drive from the Mandalay Bay, and they were also investigating reports of a shooting at the New York-New York Hotel and Casino. The shooting happened during a Harvest Festival concert at the Mandalay Bay. There may be more than one gunman. Witnesses report bodies lying on the sidewalk outside the hotel.  Police now say they don’t believe there was more than one gunman who is down.

Phone recordings by members of the audience attest to several rounds of automatic gunfire with pauses for apparent reloading. The performers scrambled and the audience began screaming and fleeing in a stampede in all directions. Some were shot, others trampled.
