Munich police: Mall attack “classic shooting rampage not terrorism”
In a media update Saturday, the Bavarian criminal police and prosecution chiefs strenuously denied that the Iranian German who murdered 9 people and injured 27 at a large shopping mall Friday night had links to Islamic State or political motives after “intensive research” into the case. He was also described as receiving ‘”psychiatric and medical care,” and, finally, that the mall attack was “a classic shooting rampage not terrorism.” It was suggested that he may have been inspired by the Norwegian Anders Breivik, the mass koller who massacred 55 youngsters some years ago. The police denied he had a license for the 99mm Glock pistol and 300 rounds found in his backpack.
