Muslim Brotherhood HQ in Cairo stormed, ransacked

The attack occurred Monday after 10 people were killed and 700 injured in overnight clashes between protesters and supporters of President Mohamed Morsi. Mass rallies in 20 Egyptian cities marked the start of an uprising to topple Morsi and the Islamist government. The organizers gave the president 48 hours to step down and call an early election or face more demonstrations Tuesday and a civil disobedience campaign. They rejected Morsi’s appeal for national unity maintaining his presidency had lost its legitimacy. DEBKAfile: The Muslim holy month of Ramadan starting Thursday potentially cuts short the street protests.
