Muslim cleric alleged linked to Al-Shabaab shot dead in Mombasa

Muslim cleric Ibrahim “Rogo” Omar and three other people were shot Thursday night in the Kenyan port of Mombasa. Tensions between the Muslim community and Kenyan security forces remain high two weeks after the terrorist attack, claimed by the Somali Al-Shabaab, on a shopping center in Nairobi which killed at least 67 people. The dead cleric was alleged to have links with al-Shabaab and some Muslims accused the Kenyan security forces of killing him – an allegation they strongly denied.
