Mustafa Mughniyeh given command of Hizballah forces in Syria: sources
Saudi sources in London said Tuesday that Hizballah leader Hassan Nasrallah has appointed Mustafa Mughniyeh, son of Imad Mughniyeh who was assassinated in Damascus by Israel in 2008, as commander of Hizballah forces in Syria.
The previous commander, Mughniyeh's uncle Mustafa Bader Al-din, was assassinated in a May 12 missile strike next to Hizballah's command near Damascus international airport. There has been no claim of responsibility for the attack. The terrorist organization has blamed the Syrian rebels.
DEBKAfile: Considering the conflict between Saudi Arabia and Hizballah in Iraq and Syria, it is somewhat strange that the report on Al-din's successor came from a Saudi source. No other source has confirmed the report.
