Nairobi mall death toll rises to 59 as standoff continues

A barrage of gunfire and explosions was heard Sunday as the standoff between Kenyan security forces and up to 10-20 gunmen holding an unknown number of hostages at the Westgate shopping mall in Nairobi continued into its second day.The death toll rose to 59, without 200 injured.  Israeli security men are assisting in the Kenyan military operation to force the al Shabaab gunmen to surrender and release the hostages. An unknown number of injured or dead victims remains trapped in the building including foreigners.
