Nepal quake death toll continues to rise. Fifty Israelis still stranded
The number of dead from the Nepal earthquake disaster has risen past 6,000 in three days and estimated to reach 10,000. Some 8,000 people were injured, tens of thousands are homeless and nine million people were affected across the small Himalayan country. The number of Israelis unaccounted for has dropped from 50 to 9 – after helicopters rescued them from remote areas inaccessible by road. El Al flew out of Kathmandu Tuesday carrying 229 Israeli adults and 15 babies born to surrogate mothers. More than 100 Israeli doctors and nurses are working all-out at the fully-equipped IDF field hospital set up Mondaym and Israeli Home Command troops are helping dig through the rubble. Massive aid is pouring into Nepal from India, China and Pakistan.
