Netanyahu and Gantz seal unity government

Likud leader PM Binyamin Netanyahu and Kahol Lavon’s Benny Gatz signed an accord on Monday evening for establishing a national emergency government coalition, so ending the political impasse in which Israel was trapped for more than 16 months after three inconclusive elections. The premiership will rotate between the two leaders, Netanyahu serving first with Gantz as “Alternate Premier.” The two will change places after the first 18 months of their three-year term. Gantz will also serve as defense minister. They will lead a government of equally divided 30 ministers with openings to add more at a later stages.
