Netanyahu and Ya’alon: We won Gaza war

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon hailed Operation Defensive Edge as an Israeli victory which drove Hamas into a corner, compelling it to accept the Egyptian ceasefire plan without any of its terms being met. They spoke in TV interviews Friday night. DEBKAfile: They omitted to mention that Hamas is still in power in the Gaza Strip and holds onto a quarter of its rocket arsenal, after shooting at Israeli towns an average of 120 a day. Both Israeli leaders were certain that none of Hamas’ demands would be met at the negotiations which open in Cairo next month, because “Egypt would stand in their way."  DEBKAfile finds this claim unrealistic.
