Netanyahu asks US ambassador Haley to help disband UNWRA

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu asked Nikki Haley, US Ambassador to the UN, to help disband UNRWA during her visit to Israel last week. He revealed this at the weekly cabinet session in Jerusalem Sunday. The time has come for the UN Work and Relief Agency review its mission for the first time since World War II, he said, now that tens of millions of new refugees are coming under the jurisdiction of the UN High Commission and a separate agency is allotted to the Palestinians. Netanyahu stressed that UNWRA broadcasts unbridled anti-Israel incitement and its operation perpetuates the Palestinian refugee problem rather than solving it. Saturday, UNWRA in the Gaza Strip reported the discovery of illegal tunnels running under two of the schools the agency sponsors and warned they would be closed down unless the tunnels were sealed.
