Netanyahu denies any Israeli role in Kurdish referendum

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu told a cabinet meeting Sunday: “Israel had no part in Kurdistan’s popular referendum except for many years of sympathy for the Kurdish people and its aspirations.”

Saturday, Turkish president Tayyip Erdogan claimed in a televised speech to have seen Iraqi Kurds acclaiming their referendum outcome with Israeli flags. He accused their leaders of “a history with Mossad; they are hand in hand together.” The Turkish leader vowed that Iraqi Kurdistan “will pay a price” for the “unacceptable referendum.,” adding: “Only Israel supports you.”
