Netanyahu discusses Syria with Putin while hosting Modi on beach

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu spoke by phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday. The call took place as Netanyahu was at Olga Beach in the city of Hadera with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During the visit to the beach, the Israeli prime minister drove his counterpart along the shoreline in a domestically-produced two-seat, all-terrain water purification vehicle.
DEBKAfile sources: Netanyahu and Putin discussed the situation on the Israel-Syria border. The Russian leader had previously promised the Israeli leader that he would not permit the deployment of Iranian or Hizballah forces near Israel's border.
