Netanyahu: Explosives at a holy site is a norm we will not tolerate
In a strong statement to the weekly cabinet meeting in Jerusalem, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said Sunday he was “obligated to preserving the status quo on Temple Mount, but we are not the ones changing it. The explosive materials secreted into Al Aqsa Mosque – that is a change in the status quo.” He pointed the finger at Hamas, the Islamic Movement in Israel, the Palestinian Authority and Turkey as the parties inciting violence on Temple Mount.
Netanyahu warned that offenders who throw stones and firebombs will be punished “to the full extent of the law.” He added: “With due respect to the courts, it is our right and duty to uphold this norm.”
