Netanyahu: Lockdowns to return unless public starts behaving
PM Binyamin Netanyahu opened Sunday’s cabinet meeting by reporting a steep rise in coronavirus infection and forecasts of worse to come. If the public does not immediately start complying rigorously with the health rules – face masks, social distancing – lockdowns will be re-imposed, he warned. Alternate PM Benny Gantz said another eighteen months to two years of having to live with the virus are to be expected. The coronavirus ministerial cabinet meets tomorrow to chart steps for controlling the pandemic’s further spread.
Health experts advise the education authorities to use the summer holidays to prepare schools and teachers to switch to remote instruction and close the schools.
Justice Minister Nissenkorn attended the cabinet meeting without a mask.
