Netanyahu meets Kerry in Rome
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu hopes to convince Washington – when he meets US Secretary of State John Kerry in Rome Monday – to veto the Palestinian demand, which is up for debate at the UN Security Council, to set a two-year deadline for Israel’s withdrawal from the West Bank. Israel warns that Hamas has vowed to seize control of the West Bank, in addition to Gaza, to launch a war for Israel’s demise. After his talks with Netanyahu Monday and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov Sunday, Kerry leaves for Paris for talks with European foreign ministers. For Tuesday, he has scheduled meetings with Arab foreign ministers.
