Netanyahu meets with former IDF Chief Benny Gantz

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu invited former IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz for a meeting on Wednesday morning. Its purpose was officially termed as a consultation on security matters, with no political content. Netanyahu, as new defense minister, has set in motion a series of meetings with former military and security chiefs. Another two former chiefs of staff, Shaul Mofaz and Gaby Ashkenazi, have also received invitations, after consultations with former defense ministers Moshe Arens and Amir Peretz. Gantz recently announced plans to run for political office.
