Netanyahu: No ceasefire unless tunnels destroyed

Israel will not accept a halt in Gaza warfare without Israeli troops being able to finish destroying Hamas' terror tunnels, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu stated Thursday at a special full cabinet meeting in Tel Aviv. He commended the spontaneous manifestations of national unity and solidarity with the fighting forces, but also reprimanded certain unnamed cabinet ministers for failing to show a good example. Defense minister Moshe Ya’alon said the tempo of combat met all expectations. Hamas was in a bad way and reeling from the blows it had suffered. Both lauded the courage and competence of Israeli forces and also cited the Shin Bet’s exemplary performance. Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz praised the close integration of the different units fighting in Gaza, saying that the true heroes of this war were the men in the field.
