Netanyahu rejects President’s People’s Prescription for judicial overhaul

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu quickly nixed President Yaakov Herzog’s proposal for replacing the government’s judicial reform plan  as “perpetuating the existing situation” and failing to strike the necessary balance between the three branches of government.” Opposition leader Yair Lapid congratulated the president and promised to consider the proposal which Herzog unveiled Wednesday night in a broadcast to the nation as the “golden means for heading off civil war” over the government’s judicial reform bill.
On Thursday, the massive anti-reform protest movement launched an “escalated day of resistance” with disruptions planned in 150 places.
