Netanyahu resolved to tighten lockdown against Gamzu’s objections
PM Binyamin Netanyahu told a TV audience Thursday night that, given the latest covid-19 infection figures and worrying number of serious cases, there may be no option but to further tighten the national lockdown that begins on Friday afternoon. Already medical teams are overstretched, he said, and coronavirus patients are being moved from hospital to hospital. Tighter restrictions are unavoidable for holding back the surging virus, he said, lest we see a steep rise in fatalities. Coronavirus director Prof. Ronni Gamzu was scheduled to to on the air after the prime minister, education minister and finance minister, but opted out at the last minute. He is reported to object to Netanyahu’s take on the crisis.
