Network of up to 600 armed terrorists operating in Europe: sources
European intelligence and military sources were quoted as saying Wednesday that a network of between 400 and 600 armed terrorists, ready to carry out attacks, is already on European soil. They said out of almost 10,000 people with European citizenships who went to Syria, Iraq and Libya to join Islamic State, more than 1,000 have returned to Europe, and at least half have received military, intelligence and tactical training in Syria, Iraq and several former Soviet states on how to carry out terrorist attacks against the West. Meanwhile, French Senator Nathalie Goulet, senior member of a commission monitoring jihadist networks, said recently-captured terrorist Salah Abdeslam had "accomplices everywhere" and that "The reality is that if we knew exactly how many (terrorists) there were, it wouldn't be happening."
