New chief of staff takes charge of Iran’s armed forces

Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei appointed Gen. Mohammad Hossein Baqeri as the head of the general staff of the country's military on Tuesday. In the appointment ceremony, Khamenei called on the new chief of staff to prepare the military to respond quickly to any attack against the Iranian nation. Baqeri succeeds Hassan Firouzabadi who was appointed as the supreme leader's military advisor.
