New David’s Sling counter-missile weapon passes test

The new version of “David’s Sling” aka “Magic Wand” successfully passed a series of interception tests conducted Tuesday by the Israeli Defense Ministry and the US Missile Defense Agency at the Rafael proving ground in the south. The upgraded system’s capacity was tested against simulated targets it is projected to face in a future confrontation. David’s Sling is designed to intercept heavy rockets and ballistic missiles launched from distant sittes.  Prime Minister and Defense Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said, “I welcome the successful Magic Wand series, which supplements the recent successful test of the Arrow 3,” which too is part of Israel’s multi-tiered missile defense array and also includes Iron Dome.
