New head of IDF Manpower Directorate: Brig. Gen. Moti Almoz

The IDF spokesman, Brig. Gen. Moti Almoz, was appointed on Thursday as head of the General Staff's Manpower Directorate. The appointment of Almoz, who will be promoted to major general, was agreed upon by Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman and the IDF chief of staff, Lieut. Gen. Gady Eisenkot. Almoz had served as IDF spokesman since 2013. The new head of the directorate has a Bachelor's degree in Middle Eastern studies as well as a Master's degree in military and security studies from Hebrew University. Almoz succeeds now-retired Maj. Gen. Hagai Topolansky who resigned from military service after his IDF-issued laptop computer was stolen from his home.
