New IDF General Staff appointments

Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon Wednesday approved the new Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Gady Eisenkott’s appointments to the IDF’s General Staff. Maj. Gen Eyal Zamir takes over as OC Southern Command from Maj. Gen. Shlomo Turjeman at the end of his two-year stint. Brig. Gen. Amikam Nurkin takes charge of the Planning Division of the General Command and is promoted to major general. Air Force Commander Maj. Gen. Amir Eshel and Navy chief, Maj. Gen. Ram Rutberg had their terms extended for another year.
