New judge to hear Bezeq detainees’ demand for immediate release
Judge Ronit Poznansky-Katz was removed from the Bezeq case after she was caught trading messages with the Securities Authority investigator, and so allowed him to predetermine her decision to extend the Bezeq suspects’ remand. The judge was ordered suspended Sunday night by Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked and High Court President Esther Hayut, two hours after her misconduct was revealed by TV Channel 10. A new judge was appointed to take over the case. Monday morning, he is to hear the suspects’ attorneys’ demand to release their clients forthwith.
The Bezeq case dubbed Dossier 4000 concerns a police probe into suspicions that an associate of prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu offered Shaul Elovitch, senior shareholder of the Bezeq telecom company, benefits, for sympathetic coverage in the Walla news website, which he owns.
Judge Ronit Poznansky-Katz’s misconduct has taken center stage of the affair along with vocal demands for close scrutiny of former rulings made by her and other judges.
