New Lebanese government dominated by Hizballah

Prime Minister Saad Hariri heads the new Lebanese government set up on Thursday after a nine-month stalemate over the pro-Iranian Shiite Hizballah’s demands. The breakthrough came about after he and the other political factions bowed to Hassan Nasrallah’s demands for a dominant Hizballah presence in the cabinet and control of the more powerful portfolios. He was backed by his close ally the Christian Maronite President Michel Aoun.
