New Syrian bank notes have Bashar Assad’s face for first time
A new 2,000 Syrian Lira bank note ($3.9) goes into circulation, bearing for the first time the face of President Bashar Assad, as he boasts of military successes against the 7-year rebellion against his rule. Syria's currency has crashed since 2011, trading then at 47 liras to the dollar and currently going for 517 liras to the dollar.
