New US sanctions against Bashar Assad and wife

New US sanctions were imposed on Wednesday against Syrian President Bashar Assad, his wife Asma and dozens of regime officials. “…we will not stop until Assad and his regime stop their needless, brutal war against the Syrian people,” said Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. He announced the coming into force of the Caesar Act for punishing any companies that work with Assad. Mrs. Assad was charged, with the support of her husband, as one of the most notorious war profiteers of the Syrian war.
