New US sanctions on Russia

The US Treasury Department has imposed fresh sanctions on five Russian entities, including a firm controlled by the FSB security service, and three individuals.  Secretary Steven Mnuchin accused them of “malign and destabilizing cyber attacks” on the US and its allies “at the behest of the Russian Federation and its military and intelligence units.” Over the weekend, President Donald Trump insisted that Russia be returned to the international group of advanced economic nations, the G7, that met in Canada this weekend, amid reports of a summit in the making between Trump and President Vladimir Putin.
