New US sanctions target five Iranians linked to Rev Guards

The US Treasury Tuesday announced a fresh round of sanctions whose targets are “linked to Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps.” They were accused of providing Yemen’s Houthi rebels with the means for attacking Saudi Arabia with missiles. British Petroleum also announced it was ending its projects in Iran in the wake of decisions by Total, Siemens, Maersk, Allianz, and others who succumbed to the US sanctions threat. On Monday, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo warned that Tehran faced the worst sanctions in history unless it gives up its nuclear program and withdraws its support from terrorist groups including Hamas, Islamic Jihad and Hizballah.
