Nigerian Islamists attack Bama in northeast, leave 55 dead

Armed with machine guns, 200 members of the Islamist Boko Haram laid siege to Bama, freeing 105 prison inmates and leaving 55 people dead in their deadliest attack since 2009, a Nigerian military spokesman said. Some of the attackers were dressed in army uniforms.
