Nine Ofra homes evacuated on high court order
Hundreds of police, Border Police and IDF soldiers Tuesday evicted the householders from nine homes in the center of Ofra, a Jewish community situated on the highway between Nablus and Jerusalem. The evictions ahead of demolitions faced resistance from protesters from inside Ofra and sympathizers from outside. It followed a Supreme Court ruling Monday by Chief Justice Miriam Naor rejecting the residents’ request to seal their homes instead of demolishing them. The land on which the buildings stood has not been claimed by any Arab owner.
