No headway on Syria in Putin-Cameron meeting

British PM David Cameron and President Vladimir Putin met to discuss the Syrian crisis at 10 Downing Street, London Sunday, the day before the G-8 summit opens in Northern Ireland. Cameron failed in his attempt to find common ground between the divergent positions of Putin and President Barack Obama on the Syrian question. Putin refused to give an inch. He rejected Western allegations that Bashar had used chemical weapons against the opposition, denounced the US decision to send the Syrian rebels arms and rejected the British prime minister’s that the Syrian ruler was guilty of terrible crimes against his people..
Monday and Tuesday, eight global leaders discuss international issues at Lough Erne, County Fermanagh, with Syria high on their agenda.
