North Korea: Missile tested for ability to carry nuclear warhead

North Korea said on Monday it had successfully launched a new type of ballistic missile in its latest test, which it said was aimed at building capacity to carry a “large scale heavy nuclear warhead.” The launch Sunday was of a "new ground-to-ground medium long-range strategic ballistic rocket" named the Hwasong-12, the official Korea Central News Agency (KCNA) said. It landed in the sea near Russia, shortly after a new pro-dialogue president Moon Jae-in was elected in South Korea.
