Number of covid-19 infections rises by an average 337 a day

Updated coronavirus figures for Tuesday set the total at 21,246, of which 5,127 are active cases and 42 are seriously ill, including 27 on ventilators. The number of deaths stands at 307. The disease has closed 219 schools. Infection is running at an average of 337 per day, the highest since the peak in late April. Of the 12,337 tests conducted in the last 24 hours, 2,7p have proved positive.
