NYPD believes New York bombers were local
While carefully avoiding mention of terrorism, the New York Police and federal preliminary investigation indicates that the bombs planted in the New York area Saturday night and early Sunday were the work of a local individual or individuals. One exploded in the Chelsea district, injuring 29 people – following which, four blocks away, a pressure cooker with wires attached to a cell phone was discovered in a trash can. A wide net has been spread out for the hand behind the bombs. They may have been rigged to coincide with the arrival of world leaders to New York for the opening session of the United Nations Assembly Tuesday. Expected among them are President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. Security has been ramped up at UN Center.
