Obama and senior aides to decide on aid to Syrian rebels
President Barack Obama holds a conference with his national security staff Wednesday to decide whether the Assad regime’s rapid military advance across the heart of Syria warrants a drastic US response. This could come in the form of lethal aid for the rebels or using US air power to enforce a no-fly zone.
Top officials from State and Defense departments, the CIA and other agencies were gathering at the White House Monday to lay the groundwork for the decisive meeting.
