Obama blames both sides for Mid East peace impasse
President Barack Obama criticized the Palestinian unity pact in Seoul Friday but minimized its importance in undermining the peace process with Israel. While the step taken by Abbas was “unhelpful,” he said, it was just one of a series of choices that “both Israel and the Palestinians have made which are not conducive to solving this crisis.". He urged both sides to make difficult compromises, but did not expect talks to resume soon or “even in the course of the next six months.” Israel Thursday suspended negotiations over the Fatah-Hamas unity pact signed Wednesday in Gaza City.
