Obama: No open-ended operation against Syria
US President Barack Obama, denying any decision had been taken yet, asserted that an operation against Syria would not involve boots on the ground or be open-ended. It would narrowly address Syria’s chemical weapons with a message to Bashar Assad that he must never again use chemical weapons. The operation would serve US interests in that Syria’s use of chemical weapons posed a threat to American national security, as well as to its allies Israel, Jordan and Turkey, he said.
